WIP Wednesday 2017-08-29

I’ve noticed that the time consuming nature of a blog has slowed down my posting pace quite a bit, so I’m recommitting to a few weekly pics of what projects I am able to squeeze time in for after work and on the weekends, time permitting. Hats off to the bloggers who have mastered more frequent posts…:)

  1. Row by Row Experience 2017.  I have a couple of Row by Rows in progress with a wall mini quilt as my goal.
    1.  First up is a pattern called Surf N’ Stitch from HartsFabric in Santa Cruz. It is a surfing beach scene with sand, ocean and sky activities.

I’m doing two versions – in the picture above the left illustration is using the fabric purchased in the kit from Harts.  The one on the right uses fabric I purchased for the sand, ocean and sky.  Since there was plenty of extra fabric included in the kit, I’ll make the surfboards, lighthouses, etc. for both minis with the same fabric from the original kit.  Make sense?

    2. The second Row by Row for 2017 is from the Nimble Thimble in Gilroy.  It is a camper’s adventure and I’ve completed the piecing and general applique work so far.  What is a camping trip is complete without a poodle on a skateboard chasing a squirrel on a bike?  I love the mini quilts I whipped together using orphan blocks and made my first mini mini postage stamp block for the clothes line.  I’m happy with how this Row by Row is coming along. camping-adventures-row-by-row-2017.jpg
  2. Next up on the WIP list is the start of Magnolia Mystery QAL sponsored by Cheryl at Magnolia Myster QAL.  I enjoyed selecting my fabrics for this project and completed the cutting for August.  The general guidelines suggested that Fabric D (in the center) should be non-directional so I scooped up some extra Kona solids (shown in the lower left corner) just in case I need to improvise.  Next up from Cheryl will be first block instructions.   IMG_0149(1)
  3. And last but not least WIP is continued work on another QAL hosted by Alyce at Milky Way QAL.  I’ve just wrapped up the Polaris Stars, making one set for a silent auction quilt and one for our home!

What fun projects are you working on?

  1. Wow, what a wonderful round up of projects! I really love your fabric choices. It would be hard to pick my favorite, but that Magnolia Mystery fabric pull is lovely. Thanks for linking up to Wednesday Wait Loss.
