Another fun quilt a long caught my attention, hosted by Myra at Busy Hand Quilts. All it calls for is black (and / or) white, and a splash of color. Any color. I’m in!
Fabric picks:
- Insignia in Orange
- Fruit Dots Metallic Gold Stripe on Orchid
- Fruit Dots Metallic Gold Stripe on Orange
- Petal Rumpled in Sour
- Insignia in Mellow Yellow
- Hoppington Haystack in Orchid
- Hatch Waffle Cone in Onyx
Now that my friends, is color! I think I snuck (grammer might need a correction!) an extra green in the shot. The Remix Criss Cross in green (3rd up from the bottom) is for another project.
The fabrics are cut and I basted a couple pieces together to ensure I was following instructions correctly. Here is a sneak peek though of the cut 48 colored rectangles and the 48 mid rectangles. The pattern I chose is Cascading Stars by Afton Warrick. I am excited to see what it looks like with a black background!
Details for this quilt-a-long can be found at Splash of Color QAL.
This morning, I chain pieced one set of blocks after another and am well on my way. I tried different layouts of the colors and ended up here.
I do wish I had taken a picture of the other variations (one scrappy with mixed colors and the other with two colors in each star). I love the sun beam reflecting on this shot.
I’m working on this in-between a few other WIPs including this cute reindeer. I nearly always use leaders and enders on my machine before and after my chain piecing which keeps WIP together and moves all my projects along one piece at a time.
Back to the Splash of Color!
